Eva Tanguay and the Cohoes Music Hall Biography by Andrew L. Erdman, Queen of Vaudeville: The Story of Eva Tanguay L’Assomption de la Ste. Vierge, Albany, New York, a French parish established in 1869/Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Latham, New York Giles Senecal, a Quebec native, and Cohoes resident, has helped Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute hockey players with housing and learning the English language. One hockey player to benefit from this help is hockey great Joe Juneau a Pont-Rouge, Quebec native who played hockey for R.P.I. from 1987-1991. Her family moved to Plattsburgh, NY in 1852 and in 1865, moved to Albany, NY. She became a popular singer, organist, and teacher of singing. Conrad Lanoue (1908-1972) American Jazz Pianist, born in Cohoes, NY and studied at the Troy Conservatory. |
